History

NJCAOG was formed in 1983 to help combat the rising costs of heating oil.

It was New Jersey Citizen Action (NJCA)'s work on state utility issues that led to the realization that we could organize consumers and keep costs down. With the help of our NJCA members and affiliates, our membership base was born and we were able to start using our collective bargaining power to negotiate lower prices for heating oil.

We have since grown into an established business with thousands of members and about 15 suppliers statewide.
